Alvaro back for 4th term
Matt Alvaro will spend a 4th season at Flames. Injury restricted the 29 year old’s inaugural Captain term to 49 games where he scored 10 goals and 36 points. In 182 Flames starts, the native of Toronto, Canada, has 134 points from 54 goals and 80 assists. Following 4 NCAA seasons at University of Vermont, the 5’9”, 190lb skater iced a couple of seasons at ECHL Fort Wayne Komets where he appeared in 118 games while netting 35 goals and 81 points after debuting with Orlando Solar Bears in 19-20. “Early in the season, Matt suffered a significant injury that kept him off for an extensive period, but it was also the kind of thing that was not perfect when he returned so he had to play his way back to form while still inching towards a full recovery,” said Paul Dixon. “It is unfortunate that it happened to him when he was getting his feet wet in an official leadership role as Captain, but he handled the adversity very well and returned to be very impactful in the back half of the schedule.” “We are glad Matt wanted to return, and we are looking forward to seeing him back here in August.” |
