Back on home ice, Sheffield Steelers avenged Saturday’s loss at Spectrum by scoring a pair of goals in the opening frame, widening it to 4 later on, then fending off a furious reply on the way to a 6-3 win over the visiting Flames.

Stephen Harper kicked off the scoring in the 7^th minute and Mitchell Balmas with just 39 seconds left in the frame had the Yorkshire side up by a pair. 

Robert Dowd and Jack Dougherty about 2 minutes apart near the midway mark made it a 4 goal spread. A 33^rd minute strike from Mathieu Gosselin got one back then a Travis Brown follow up inside the period’s last 3 minutes sent Flames to break 2 goals adrift.   

A little over 6 minutes after re-start Jamal Watson added another to bring Flames within a single, but a Patrick Watling reply shortly thereafter opened the gap a bit more then Harper’s 2^nd about 5 minutes from time thwarted a full comeback attempt. 

Justin Fazio made 19 saves on 23 shots over 2 periods. Taz Burman in 3rd period relief was 10 for 12. Matt Greenfield turned away 23 of 26.
