Canadian Defenceman Jonathan Racine joins Flames.  The 6’2”, 200lb blueliner spent last season at Corona Brasov where he appeared in 22 games with 1 goal and 6 assists.  The 32 year old made an NHL start during the 2013-2014 season with Florida Panthers and was a 3rd round pick of the club in 2011. He iced in nearly 300 AHL games between 2013 and 2020 before his European tour that has since taken him to Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and France prior to his latest Romanian stop.

The Montreal native spent the bulk of his junior career with Shawinigan Cataractes in the QMJHL where his play was recognized with the NHL selection and an appearance in Country colours at U17 when he iced for Canada Quebec at that level’s world hockey championship.

“We have some injuries at the back, and bringing in a player with this much experience will add a great deal the our blue line group.”

“Jonathan is a defensive defenceman with some size but he is also mobile and can get around the large ice.”

“We are looking forward to adding him into the lineup as soon as his paperwork is in place.”
