Flames have added forward Nicolas Ouellet.  The Canadian skater will fill in for Austin Glover who has had season ending surgery and will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the 23-24 schedule.

Ouellet spent the early part of the current term at ECHL Reading Royals where he iced in 24 games, scoring a goal and 5 assists.  The native of St-Charles-Borromée, Quebec spent the previous 3 seasons at University of Ottawa where he played 32 Usports games, collecting 13 goals and 18 points.

The 5’7”, 165lb forward spent his entire Junior career in the QMJHL with Val-d'Or Foreurs. Between 2015 and 2020, the 25 year old had 82 goals and 153 points in 217 starts with his last year being his best thanks to 30 goals and 20 assists in 48 starts.

“It was exceptionally disappointing to get the worst news with Austin who was having very strong year for us,” said Paul Dixon.

“With the deadline looming a couple of weeks ago, and Austin’s news, we knew adding to the roster to keep up some depth was necessary, and we are glad to have been able to get Nick on board before the transfer window closed.”

“Nick is a very good skater with good speed and he should bring a new spark of energy to the lineup.”

“He is here now and we look forward to a chance to get him into the lineup.”
