With Glasgow Clan on hand at Spectrum, a single goal by each club across the opening pair of periods followed by a scoreless 3rd led to a league table point each and forced overtime where the home team grabbed the extra with a Calle Ackered one time bullet that secured a 2-1 win.
A late first period powerplay goal put the Flames on the board ahead of the break when Jesse Craige and TJ Foster one touched a couple of perfect passes for an immediate goalmouth tip in by Brett Ferguson.
Seconds from period time in the middle frame, Clan drew it level at a goal each. A ricocheting puck squirted it’s way to the goal line where Matt Haywood was standing to nudge it across the finish which was the final goal of regulation ahead of the tiebreaking measures and the Ackered decider.
“That wasn’t at all our best game, but I guess when you do enough to win you don’t spend too much time thinking about it,” said Paul Dixon.
“We will certainly take the points, but we want to be better on Saturday and Sunday against Sheffield and over the course of a couple of practices we will try to get our mindset for just that.”
