Gravelle makes pro debut with Flames
Canadian Defenceman Jacob Gravelle will make his pro debut with Flames when the new season gets underway. The 5’11”, 185lb skater is fresh off 4 seasons at USports University of Western Ontario where he had 74 points from 15 goals and 57 assists in 84 starts. Along the way, the 25 year old was selected as the Ontario conference Defenceman of the Year and First All Star team in 2022-2023, and received the Second All-Star team nod in 2024-2025. After his selection in the OHL draft in 2016, Gravelle went on to play 4 seasons from 2017 through 2021, mostly with Hamilton Bulldogs. He iced 130 Major Junior games and posted 7 goals and 38 points ahead of his university transfer in time for the 2021-2022 season. “Jacob has excellent mobility and can handle the puck, and he can play in all aspects of the game from powerplay to penalty kill,” said Paul Dioxn. “We knew this summer that getting some younger players in here was going to be a priority and when you do that you want to evaluate for guys you think have a chance to join up and become part of the core of players you hope to build around for the foreseeable future.” “Jacob appears to have really developed his game in 4 years of university hockey, and we think he will be able to have an impact with us while still progressing through experience, and we look forward to welcoming him into our programme near the end of August.” |
